Roman even bites highchair when teething is at it’s worst! As a mommy your heart goes out to your child when they are teething. Their gums are inflamed and irritated… all you want to do is make the pain go away! From a speech pathologist’s perspective all I can do is assign a feeling to it such as “Roman I know it hurts you when your teeth are coming in, but here this might help you”. The teethers that we have found to most helpful are below…
I think Roman’s favorites are the teethers from Green Sprouts, which you can chill for extra soothing relief. There is also a textured surface that massages the gums. It’s very easy for teeny tiny hands to grasp! And not to mention it is PVC and BPA free.
Another great teether is the Green Toys My Frist Twist Teether. Since it has twists and turns it’s easy to pick up. Best part is it is made of 100% food-safe recycled plastic containers that save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. There is no BPA, PVC, phthalates, or external coatings. It’s dishwasher safe too, which makes life easier! We also LOVE their toys ☺
Honest’s classic butterfly teether is great as well! It is medical grade and is made of non-toxic silicone. Since it is stretchy, babies can easily tug and chew it. Feel free to chill or freeze this one too. It’s also very durable and easy to clean!
Sophie the Giraffe is always a hit too since it has numerous body parts to chew on! It is also made of 100% natural rubber and individually hand painted with food paint. Plus it makes a fun squeaky sound and was featured our Week 9 Bag of Tricks called “Eyes are for Hearing”!
You can even create your own teethers. Some of our favorite DIY teethers include: wooden spoon, cold/frozen washcloths, frozen fruit with a mesh bag (we prefer the Boon Pulp ), frozen pacifier (just fill it up with water and put it in the freezer!), and homemade popsicles.
